When we first arrived in Nam in 1965, we had a problem getting Jeeps to carry supplies etc. Being the Ammo CPL for the 81's (mortars) I requested a Jeep and trailer to go get our supplies of rounds and c-rats. Of course they said there were none available for NCO. All were reserved for the officers to move their gear.

It so happens that night during one of our firing missions we had a shortround. (for those that don't know, a short round is a round that does not do a complete burn of its propellant, thus does not travel as far as it should). Well our round fell just short of the motor pool. I received an phone call within a few minutes saying our Jeep and trailer were gassed up and ready.
